The job requires a bachelor’s degree in architecture and seven or more years of relevant experience. It involves supervising the work of subordinate architectural personnel, managing multiple projects simultaneously, conducting site visits, analyzing sites, preparing cost estimates, selecting and negotiating with consultants and contractors, coordinating design and construction documents, monitoring and coordinating project progress with other County agencies, and conducting inspections and reviews for technical accuracy and compliance.
The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge of architecture and public building design and construction, modern engineering methods, materials, and techniques, as well as the ability to plan, design, and prepare complete plans and specifications for all building types, coordinate and review the work of other architects, engineers, technical, and clerical assistants, and make comprehensive recommendations on engineering problems.
The job also requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and skill in the use of architectural instruments and equipment. The candidate should possess a valid state driver's license and be willing to work a flexible schedule.
